If you know me, you know that I hate turkey. I don't like it fryed, baked, boiled, roasted, not even as a cold cut! Heck, I don't even it like it alive. They are one ugly bird!
Yes, I've tried it! Wouldn't say I hated it if I hadn't. Once it was dry, the other time it was moist but the flavour just didn't appeal to me. I even had it breaded. Nope, don't like it. I always get asked whats the difference that makes me like chicken over turkey.. Don't really have an answer. Just don't like the bird!
And I always hear, "you've never had mine". You're probably right. Because I hate turkey! I won't even buy it for my family to eat. Okay, that's not true, I buy them cold cuts but I refuse to buy a whole bird. I don't want to even attempt at trying, just have no desire.
Having said that, here's the kicker: I am going to eat or try to eat turkey at a dinner party that I will be attending very shortly. I promised that I'd try it,and once again because, "you've never had mine" seems to be the going line. And apparently, with the cranberry & stuffing and all the traditional fixings. What's the worst that can happen? I end up eating bread & butter & hope dessert is the bomb. Or maybe after all this time, I end up liking it? Of course there is a catch..... You don't think I'd do it without one..LOL
The catch? Stuffed squid. No, not calamari. Squid! Don't be a hater. Most people like deep fried calamari. What they don't realize is that it's sqiud. But when you say "calamari' it sounds so regal ,fancy and excotic. It's squid! Doesn't mattter which way you cook it, it's squid.
So I'll be making stuffed squid with rice, peppers, onions, mushrooms & chouriço. Cooked in a tomatoe sauce served with rice! Yummy! You can't say you don't like it till you try it! Especially those who eat sushi and this is cooked!
So will my guests like it?? Don't know. I do know I'll have bread & butter on hand. Either way, the jury is out on both sides. Keep you posted.
(in the tone of voice from My Big Fat Greek Wedding): What do you mean you don't eat Turkey? Its so k...I make lamb...
