Family...Enough Said

     Family.
The one word that brings so many things to mind. Some good,some bad,some make you cringe and some make you laugh.

     So you think your family's weird? You think you're the only family that is "crazy". Sometimes you wonder how you're so normal? Or are you? Maybe you're just as weird as you think your family is.....

     If your european, you know exactlly what I'm talking about.
Picture it:
A family meal, at least 6-8 people at the table if not more and at least 50 conversations going on. Everyone has a say about every conversation going on, even if it doesn't involve them. Sorry, what was that you say? It's a little loud? Seems like someone's getting upset? No, it's just the european way. Sounds like we're mad and yelling but in fact, we're just whispering.

     Let us discuss a few different types of people in the family:
Doctors:
The doctors in the family are those who think they know every cure because they always have the symtoms you've described. They even want to share their medication with you. How generous! Of course their perscription is for something totally unrelated. And they can't understand why you don't want to take a few...??

     The news reporter:
 A nicer word for the gossiper or know it all. No meal would be complete with out the latest news. Did you hear who died? Did you hear what so & so did? What they bought? Oh, lets not forget the,"did you see what she was wearing?"

     The handyman:
 There is one or many, some combine their expertise. I can build that. I can fix that. And of course, they can do it for cheaper. Spare parts? They have a collection,because you'll never know when you'll need it.


The chef:
This is usually the "momma" of the family. She prepares a family meal but it looks more like a banquet. She doesn't understand why you just don't eat more, there's only what feels like 20 courses and that's not including dessert. Just the mention of taking her out to eat is a sin. Heck, she could do the same for less and much better of course!

     What about holidays and vacations? I bet everyone has a memorable one. Maybe it was a stat holiday & the whole family was over or it was a vacation that you'd either like to forget or love to remember. Maybe you never went anywhere exciting but the laughter you shared on that time together was the best.

     All in all, is your family that crazy or weird? If you really think about it and ask your friends, it probably all sounds the same. So does that mean everybody's crazy? Or is it simply that "family" is unique. In reality, we probably all have the same stories in one way or another. And every generation thinks that they will learn from their families....let's call it adventures.

     Truth be told, we all become our parents, in some small way. Thus, the crazy family continues on to another generation and so on...
