Ham It Up...The Verdict

I want to start by saying that I will try most things once....maybe. But there are other things like sky diving and perhaps some foods that, no way, never, forget it, I will never do. So for the very first time, this european diva tried ..... a spiral ham.

I can hear the gasps. But it's true,I did. Not at all what I expected.

Presented on a huge platter, all roasted and decorated with asparagus. Scalloped potatoes, corn & gerkins accompanied it. Of course there was a salad( with no fruit in it) but no sliced wonder bread.  It did look yummy, there's no denying it but what would it taste like??  If you don't already know, Jack is the one who picked this recipe. It all started as a joke, sometines he's such a ham.....LOL(Sorry, couldn't resist)

Well, it was not at all what I expected. Juicy, moist and tender. Not sweet and it certainly did not have pineapple or cherries on it ( remember Jack picked the recipe). Jack even had a second helping, yes it's true. Did I(we) enjoy it? Yes, we did. Then again there was alcohol involved-just kidding. No honestly it was better than expected.

So where does that leave us now? Will I be making my own ham? Will I ask you to bring one to the next party I organize? Don't know. What I do know is that, it's still a Canadian thing, you don't have to have pineapple on it and when all is said & done it looks like a big roast.

Of course, that doesn't mean I want to eat ham everytime I'm going for dinner. Perhaps I need to try something else once .... I heard something about a green salad with fruit and syrup. Hmmmm, maybe sky diving doesn't seem so bad...

Now your turn, who will be the first to try bbq'd sardines & some stuffed squid?????
