Murphy and The Little Things

We've all met him at some point in our lives. He just pops in when you least expect it & POW,changes everything! No warning,no invitation,no flowers or bottle of wine, just unexpected surprise. Murphy's Law!
Consideration? None. Unwanted? Definitely!

Just when you thought it was all smooth sailing, when you just got over that unexpected hump, there he is to mess up your day, week, month. We know he's there and we see him in other people's lives and secretly  are glad that it isn't happeninmg to us,hope he just skips us. But as luck or unluck would have it,we are not skipped. Whether it be a small incident or something just to ruin what seems like your whole life,Murphy has a way of just wrecking havoc.

Example, you've just paid off your car and wouldn't you know it,someone hits you from behind. Sure things happen but with Murphy,if it can go wrong,it will! Don't underestimate him,he's good. He knows every trick in the book. He will make you mad,or cry, that's his power. It can be very depressing and you may feel like the world is picking on on you but  that's the Murphy way.

What can make it better? Chocolate? Alcohol? A long drive? Perhaps nothing. Sometimes we just have to deal with it as best as we can. We have to find a way to fix it, deal with it. Sure it may be stressful but unfortunately he's part of life.

On the bright side, there is a glimmer of hope. Maybe it's the chocolate or wine, perhaps we need a good cry to help us deal with it. Sometimes it's the little things that bring a smile to your face even if it's just for a moment. One of my favorite things is going to the airport and watching the planes arrive and depart. Though I'd rather be on a plane and going somewhere, there's something about watching the airplanes land & take-off that just brings a  smile to my face, a sense of calm.

Whether it's airplanes, alcohol or cute fluffy kittens, we have the power to smile and enjoy the moment. Murphy's not going away, but we can enjoy the little things...What's yours????

  1. Ah, yes, good ole Murphy. He's nothing if not consistent though, which, I guess, we can take some comfort in: He's always there, lurking in the bushes and shadows, waiting for the right moment to yell "surprise, sucker! I'm hear to turn your good fortune on its ass today!"

But if we can keep a positive attitude, laugh, cry and keep drinking wine when the need calls, then I think (I think) we can turn Murphy on his ass, too.

    sandy.

  2. Sometimes he's just like that annoying shadow that won't go away!
Don't know about the positive attitude but alcohol is definitely a huge help.
