I can officially check off an item on my bucket list. Drum roll...... I went to the movies by myself! Ok there were about 40 people in the theatre( I counted), but I was alone. No girlfriend, no family member, just me. You may not think thats a big deal, but have you done it?
It all began with a book I started reading called, "50 Shades", no just kidding, it was called, "Life of Pi". It was interesting. And when I found out they were going to do a movie, I picked that one for the bucket list. Besides, no one wanted to go with me. Jack said he would but I thought for sure he'd be bored and probably start snoring. So I went alone.
I was actually kind of excited about going to the movies by myself. Weird eh? But as I pulled into the parking lot, I started to realize, this is it. You'd think I was doing something of great importance. When your kids think you're weird for going alone & your husband volunteers because he feels sorry for you, you start to question your madness a little.
Ticket bought online...check. Something to eat and drink....check Of course that involves chocolate. No movie would be complete without some chocolate.
I go into the theatre and pick my seat. Last row at the very top, in the middle. I was trying to hide a little. I have become the person we all look at & wonder why they're by themselves??? I knew the theatre wasn't going to be full for this movie either. It's not James Bond. If you haven't read the book, you probably wouldn't go see it unless you were truly intrigued by the previews.
As I look around, I am the only loner! But it's ok. I can do this. The movie starts and I disappear into the story. I have totally forgotten that I am by myself. I enjoy my chocolate as I watch the movie. There's no one to lean over to and whisper about the movie but its okay. I laugh, I cry, I enjoy.
Before I know it, it's over! That wasn't so bad. Could it be that maybe if the theatre was full and it was some action packed movie I might have felt different? Maybe, maybe not. Do I want to try it again? Not sure. All I know is that I have crossed it off my bucket list. Done! What number was that? Not sure where on the list it fits, but it's done.
P.S.
The movie was great!
